Restoration

As the restoration of the Gildhouse progresses throughout 2007, we will update the website with the latest pictures and progress of the project. When the restoration is complete, this page will remain as a testament to all the hard work which is due to start in February next year! Look out for regular updates here.

The last restoration was very sympathetically done in 1907, which has saved the building from complete ruin. The current restoration project will involve removing rotten timbers, replacing the guttering and repairing the damaged cob walls. We will completely refurbish the kitchen and toilets and provide a disabled toilet, along with disabled access. There will also be a much needed new car park.

Ultimately the Gildhouse will have provision for activities for school groups as well as comprehensive building interpretation and information.
